Music Festival Guitar Raffle WinnersDan Carter - winner of the 2011 FRMMF Bob Weir signed guitar. Dan bought one ticket at the Saturday Farmer's Market and was a very excited guy on Sunday morning when he arrived at the Music Festival to pick up his prize. He and his friend, Rhonda Wilson, braved the stormy morning to enjoy what the Music Festival had to offer, basking in the glow of his win.
Rob Marshall - winner of the 2011 FRMMF Tommy Emmanuel signed guitar. Rob was the original keyboardist for the The Chantays (Pipeline and Wayward Nile). Their songs topped the music charts in the 1960's and helped define the surf music genre. Pipeline was recorded by multiple artists, including The Ventures, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Anthrax. The Chantays were formed in 1961 when five high-school friends decided to start their own band. Bob Spickard, Brian Carman (co-writers of Pipeline), Bob Welch, Warren Waters and Rob Marshall were all students at Santa Ana High School. The Chantays are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Pipeline is listed as one of the 500 Songs that shaped Rock and Roll. The Chantays have the honor of being the only Rock and Roll band to perform on the Lawrence Welk Show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j09C8clJaXo). Rob was especially happy to win this guitar. He and two friends play at convalescent hospitals, but dragging around keyboards was getting tough. Now Rob will have a guitar from Forest Ranch Charter School to continue spreading music and joy. |
